Christmas Extravaganza

Here are some photos from Luke's third Christmas holiday season. He had a great month - meeting Santa, Moms CLub party, and of course, the big day!

Pretend City

In November we went to Pretend City in Irvine. Pretend City is a kid-sized city with interactive, role-play areas for the kids to explore. There is a Harbor with fake fish, a restaurant with a kitchen, a doctors office, fire station, farm, etc. Luke had a great time (I was a little overwhelmed by all the kids! Whoa!). Enjoy the photos!

Fun with Photo Editing

Had some fun playing with picnik.com. Check it out!

Country Fair

Luke's school, Early Explorations, had a Country Fair yesterday. Luke had a great time: pony rides, cotton candy, carnival games (we "won" our first fair goldfish. We'll see how long he lasts!), hot dogs and face painting. Here are a few photos from the event.

This is Miss Lindsey - Luke's favorite teacher! - making him into a tiger - grrrr! We have never seen him sit still for so long. Ahhh, the magic of Miss Lindsey!

It's been awhile...

Luke is doing great. He's growing (see sidebar) and talking up a storm. His new favorite thing is to "talk about my day Mama". Morning or night (or mid-afternoon), we go over his day and everything he did, where he went, who he saw, what he ate, etc. He invites me to sit down with him at breakfast so we can talk about his day. At bedtime, he wants to know about the following day. I think he's learning about time (yesterday, today, next week) but it's also giving him a sense of security - he knows what to expect and can be prepared.

About 8 weeks ago I went back to work 2 days a week. This meant Luke started "pre-school" a little earlier than planned. He has done great with the transition. He loves his teachers (particularly Miss Lindsey) and has made friends. In fact, we ran into a friend at the local nursery and I had my first "wow, he has a whole separate life from me" moment. We saw a little boy near the pond. Luke walked over to him and said "hi Tyler". The boy replied, "hi Luke". The boy's dad and I looked at each other wondering, "do they know each other?". We put 2 and 2 together and they are in the same class at school. I was amazed by Luke's social skills and confidence. In the car I asked him, "do you play with Tyler at school?" "No." "Why not?!" "He hit me." "Oh..." I guess I wouldn't want to play with him either. : )

King Max

Here are some photos of "King Max" from his Halloween party today. Luke had a great time in his costume and is very excited for trick or treating tomorrow.

This is Ms. Ali and her kids Jack and Quinn. She is the mom who watches Luke on Monday mornings. She was also one of the organizers of the party today. She and Ms. Suzi did a great job!

Cambria October 18-25, 2009

Just a few photos from our trip. I guess this time the camera didn't work as well as having no cell service or Wi-Fi.

Elephant seal impression.

These little koi were so friendly. You could put a finger in the water and they would "kiss" it - this kept Luke amused while we waited for "Thai food Wednesday." If you're ever in Bay Wood/Los Osos - check out Noi's Little Thai Take-Out - we took the advice of one of the locals and YUM is all I can say. This adorable place is amazing.
