Singing

About three weeks ago Luke started spontaneously singing "Five Little Monkeys". He did the Dr part - "No More Monkeys" with the accompanying wag of his finger. Since then he's extended his repertoire to include portions of the "ABC's" and more of the actual "Five Little Monkeys" song. I'm trying to get him on video and will post it when I can. He's in love with watching himself on the video camera and doesn't quite understand how it works yet - he always comes over to the filming side to see what going on. : )

Favorite Books

I should have started this a long time ago, but I just thoughtof it. To the right >>> I've started a list of Luke's current favorite books. By "favorite" I mean the one he currently wakes up asking to read, needs read multiple times during the day and a few times before bed. He hasn't asked to bring a book to bed yet, but I'm sure it's coming. This boy loves books.

Cambria - July 2009

Luke thought this rock looked like a cupcake so we dubbed it "Cupcake Rock" for the remainder of the visit.

This deer thought Nana's roses were delicious. She and her fawn came nearly every evening to munch.

Luke discovered rock throwing on this trip. He sat for almost an hour throwing rocks into the ocean. Good times!

Luke's tent

This tractor was a big hit with Luke. He loved touching the tires and sitting on the hood. We're still talking about it!

"Santana" Concert

We took Luke to a concert in the park this weekend - a Santana cover band. Luke was having a great time dancing in the back. Paul took him down front to check out the band up close.

After studying the musicians for awhile ("you mean that's where the music comes from?!?") - he started getting down. Here's a snippet of his moves. Enjoy!

Zoomars!

We took Luke to Zoomars (a local petting zoo) on Saturday. He had a great time! We bought a basket of carrots to feed the various animals. We started in the bunny and guinea pig corral. The animals were so patient with all the kids!

There was also a small train so, Luke took his first train ride. What a treat!

We also played in the small playground before feeding the birds, goats, ponies and other animals. What a fun outing!

Buckeye, AZ March 27-29

The hikers

In late March we drove over to Buckeye, AZ to visit my dad and Terry. Great-grandma Carolyn, Uncle Bruce and my Aunt Mary also came over. We had a great time! Luke loved playing with all the rocks in the front yard and "talking" with the birds upstairs (his aviary "aunts").

Dad, Paul, grandma, Bruce and Mary all went for a hike to an outcropping my dad discovered. It is full of pictographs from our Native American ancestors.

On Saturday night, we had a concert in the garage, as dad, Bruce and Paul played their guitars and sang for us. It was a blast!

It was a long drive for the little guy, but we are glad we made it.

Thanks for having us over, Dad and Terry!
